Evil--Speech and Actions.

Charles Hatchko

Evil Speech and Evil actions are abominable the path of the devil. The evil road not to travel. Look at the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ regarding evil speech.
In (Matthew 12:34-37) Jesus exhorts,--You brood of vipers!  How can you speak good, when you are evil.  For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  The good man out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil.  I tell you on the Day of Judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter; for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
In this teaching we see the attack on Pharisaic hypocrisy by the Lord Jesus Christ.  Blasphemous words will be judged accordingly.  Words will be the criterion of the righteous judgment of Christ that will justify or condemn the person.  Sacred Scripture gives evidence of blasphemy, reviling, and all contumelious speech: (Matthew 27:39)-- (Matthew 26:65)- (Mark 2:7)- (Mark 15:29)--  (Luke 22:65)-- (Romans 3:8)-- (Romans 14:16)-- (1 Corinthians 4:13) (1 Corinthians 10:30)-- (Acts 19:37)- (Ephesians 4:31)-- (Titus 3:2)- (Revelation 13:6)-- and (Revelation 16:9).
(James 3:6)-- gives magnificent evidence of the evil power of the tongue:
The tongue also is like a fire, a world of evil among many parts of the body.  It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and itself is set on fire from hell.
The devil is the source from which the tongue derives its destructive powers which originate from innate concupiscence and selfish evil desires.  The destructive powers of the tongue are graphically depicted as a forest fire.  The tongue's influence can be described as the little part of the body corrupting the whole person.  St. James compares the tongue to a small rudder that guides a ship, or a bit in the mouth of a horse.  The perversity of the tongue is humongous and cannot be tamed by the human person.  The tongue is full of deadly poison.  The speech of a man is a great determination of one's spiritual condition.  In (1 Corinthians 13:5) St. Paul gives definitive evidence thatCharity thinketh no evil.
Detraction consists in disclosing the fault committed by another without necessity.  The sin of detraction is the damaging of one's reputation.  This is an act of injustice against one's neighbor.  Lies are an abomination against the Lord.  Sacred Scripture castigates the liar.  The pernicious habit of lying is an abomination that leads into mortal sin and to eternal perdition.  Let me again remind the reader.  (Proverbs 12:22) states, Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord.
(Psalm 5:4-6) gives definitive affirmation that God does not delight in wickedness, evil may not sojourn with God.Thou hatest all evildoers, Thou destroyest all who speak lies, and the Lord abhors bloodthirsty and deceitful men.
In (John 8:44)-- Jesus exhorts, the devil is a liar and the father of lies.
(Wisdom 1:11)-- states, Beware of useless murmuring, and keep your tongue from slander.  Because, no secret word is without result, and a lying mouth destroys the soul.
(Psalm 140:11) states,--let not the slanderer be established in the land.
(Proverbs 10:18)- states, He who utters slander is a fool.
(Sirach 5:13-14)-- states, Glory and dishonor come from speaking, and a man's tongue is his downfall.  Do not be called a slanderer, and do not lie in ambush with your tongue. Mortal Sin will lead one into Hell. There is a Hell.
The Bible gives affirmation regarding hell, and the consequences of the sin of idolatry.
Scriptures gives evidence of the worm. The worm is the agent of destruction which appears in biblical metaphorical language. The worm truly represents eternal punishment, also, the corruption and mortality of the flesh.
Here is some biblical affirmation regarding worm.
(Sirach 7:17) states-- Humble yourselves greatly, for the punishment of God against the ungodly is fire and worms.
See (Deuteronomy 28:39)- (Judith 16:17)- (Sirach 10:11)- (Sirach 19:3)- (Isaiah 51:8)-
(Isaiah 66:24)- (2 Maccabees 9:9) and (Mark 9:48)! All give affirmation and evidence regarding hell! The "Word of God" especially in the Gospels, there are Biblical references regarding the deliverance and exorcism power of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the Gospels, Sacred Scripture is filled with Biblical references about the devil, Satan and spirits: Please look at the Biblical Texts--Yes in the gospels of the Lord Jesus Christ.                                    Matthew. Look at the gospels --First the gospel of Matthew.
(4:1-11)-- (4:24)- (7:22)-(8:16)- (8:28-34)--(9:32-34) (10:1)- (12:22-32)-- (12:43, 45)-- (13:39)- (15:22) (17:18 25): Look at the gospel of Mark.
Mark-- (1:13)-- (1:21-28)- (1:32)- (1:34)- (1:39)- (3:11)- (3:15)-- (3:22-30)- (4:15)- (5:1-20) (6:7)- (6:13)- (7:24-30)- (8:33)- (9:14-29)- (9:38)- (16:9)- (16:17)--Look at gospel of  Luke--
Luke (4:1-13)-(4:31-37)- (6:18)--(7:21)- (7:33)- (8:2)-(8:12)--(8:26-39)- (9:1)- (9:37-43) (9:49)- (10:17-20)- (11:14-26)- (13:10-17)-- (13:32)- (22:3)- (22:31).--Look at John's gospel.
John (6:70)--(7:7-20)--(8:39-59)-- (10:19-21)-- (13:2)-- (13:27).
The following Biblical references affirm that evil exists. Also, the magnificent war in heaven between St. Michael and the dragon, the ancient serpent called the devil. Scripture gives affirmative evidence that the dragon and his angels was defeated.
(Revelation 12:7-11)-- tells of the great war in heaven between St. Michael the archangel and the dragon and is angels.
This is why the Church has instituted the magnificent deliverance prayer of intercession through St. Michael the Archangel. St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
(Revelation 12:1)-1 Sacred Scripture affirms the devil or Satan was defeated! He was conquered by the "Blood of the Lamb" and the testimony of the Word.
The battle was won by Jesus Christ on the "Cross at Calvary."
In (Colossians 1:13-14)-- St. Paul exhorts
…for he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
In( 2 Thessalonians 3:3)- St. Paul exhorts--But the Lord is faithful and will protect you from the evil one.
In (Ephesians 6:10-17)- St. Paul exhorts Finally be strong in the Lord and his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that we can withstand the wickedness and snares of the devil.
Read (Ephesians 6:10-17)-- in regards to the armor of God. Put on the full armor of God. Always call upon the mercies of Jesus Christ and the power of his death and resurrection. Call upon the name of Jesus Christ, the power of his shed blood, and the awesome power of the word of God.
Prayer is a great weapon against Satan. The greatest form of prayer is the Mass.
The Sacraments is the greatest form of invisible grace and inward sanctification communicated to the soul given to man by the Lord Jesus Christ
In (Matthew 12:36)-- Jesus exhorts, Every idle word men speak, they shall render an account for it on the Day of Judgment. (Revelation 21:7)-- gives evidence that all liars their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone.  Seek first the Kingdom of God and all of his righteousness.
(Proverbs 10:11)-- states, The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life.
Proverbs 13:3 states, He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul, but he that does not guard his mouth shall meet with evils.
In (1 Peter 3:15-16)-- St. Peter states,
but in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. We can do all things through Christ who strenthens us-(Phil. 4:13)--
God states--My grace ius suffiicent for thee--(2 Cor. 12:9).
Our suffieciency is from God. (2 Cor. 3:5)--Our Victory is in Christ.

Parallells Between Davidic Kingdom & Catholic Church

Charles Hatchko

This is from Dr. Scott Hahn's "Reasons to Believe; How to Understand, Explain, and Defend the Catholic Faith" pg 156-157, 168-170

  1. The Davidic monarchy was founded upon a divine covenant, the only human kingdom of the Old Testament to enjoy such a privilege (see 2 Sam 8:11-16).
  2. The Davidic monarch was the Son of God.  The familial relationship of the king to God is expressed in Nathan's oracle, but again in other places (see Psalm 2:7).  The son of David received the grace of divine sonship at the time of his anointing.
  3. The son of David was "the Christ,"  that is, "the messiah," since mashiach in Hebrew literally means "the anointed one" (see 1 Sam 16:13; 1Kgs 1:43-48; 2 Kgs 11:12; Ps 89:20-39).  His anointing with oil made him a priest and a king, "a priest for-ever after the order of Melchizedek" (Ps 110:4).  Melchizedek was priest-king in the Jerusalem of Abraham's time (Gen 14:18; Ps 76:2).
  4. The House of David was inextricably bound to Jerusalem, particularly Mount Zion, which was the personal possession of King David and his heirs (2 Sam 5:9).  More than the capital city for the monarchy, Jerusalem became the spiritual center of God's people, and the place of pilgrimage for Israel and all the nations (Is 2:1-3).
  5. The Temple was the visible sign of the Davidic covenant and God's kingdom.  Building the Temple was central to the terms of the covenant, and the same Hebrew word for "house" was used to describe not only David's dynasty, but also God's dwelling place, which was to serve as a "house of prayer for all peoples" (Is 56:7; Mt 21:12-15).
  6. The Davidic King was to rule over all twelve tribes of Israel--but also over all the nations.  It was only under David and Solomon that both Judah and all the northern tribes were united as one kingdom and freed from foreign oppression (see 2 Sam 5:1-5; 1 Kgs 4:1-19).  The Lord also decreed that the Davidic king was to rule over all the nations (Ps 2:8, 72: 1-17), and welcome gentile pilgrims to Jerusalem (1 Kgs 8:41-43, 10:1-24), from all over the world.  The Davidic Kingdom at Zion thus marks the first time Israel was called to welcome gentiles as an integral part of their covenant with God.
  7. The monarchy was to be everlasting.  One of the most prevalent emphases in the Psalms and histories is that David's dynasty will be eternal (see 2 Sam 7:16).  Not only the dynasty, but also the life span of the reigning monarch was described as everlasting (see Ps 21:4).
Along with those seven primary features, we should note three secondary elements.  Though these were not mentioned explicitly in Nathan's oracle, they are found throughout the histories and hymns of the House of David.  Again, they will become even more important under the New Covenant of Jesus Christ.

  1. The Queen Mother became an important part of the royal govenment.  It starts with King Solomon in 1 Kings 2:19  "So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him on behalf of Adonijah.  And the king rose to meet her, and bowed down to her; then he sat on his throne, and had a seat brought for the king's mother; and she sat on his right."  Note, here, that everyone bowed before Solomon, but Solomon himself bowed down before his mother.  From that point on, the Queen Mother became a permanent fixture in the kingdom, a symbol of the continuity of david's royal line.  she also served as one of the king's most important advisers.  Indeed, Proverbs 31 is identified as the advice of the queen mother of King Lemuel: "The words of Lemuel, king af Massa, which his mother taught him."  When the prophet jeremiah address the king, he addresses his mother as well, such was her authority: "Say to the king and the queen-mother..." (Jer 13:18; see also 2 Kgs 24:15).
  2. The "prime minister"or chief steward became a distinct office in the royal government.  The king had many servants (in 1 Kgs 4:7 there are twelve), but one man was chief among them and stood between the king and his other ministers.  Almost two centuries after David, Isaiah prophesised a transition in the royal government in which one prime minister would be replaced by another (see Is 22:15-25).  From his prophecy, we can tell that everyone in the kingdom could identify the prime minister: "he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah."  The sign of the prime minster's office was the keys of the kingdom.  "And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David; he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open."
  3. The thank offering or "sacrifice of thanksgiving" became the primary liturgy celebrated at Temple, much more than the sin offering (see Ps 50:13-14, 116:17-19).  The thank offering (Lev 7:12-15) included unleavened bread and wine freely offered to God in gratitude for deliverance.  Ancient Jewish teachers predicted that, when the Messiah came, no other sacrifice would be offered: the thank offering alone would continue.  The word for "thank offering" is todah in Hebrew, but is translated as eucharistia in many Greek translations of the Scriptures and in the writings of ancient Jews, such as Philo and Aquila.

Let's revisit those seven primary and three secondary features of God's covenant with David, and let's see how well Jesus fills the role.

  1. The Davidic monarchy was founded upon a divine covenant.  God's covenant with David, as described in Nathan's oracle ( 2 Sam  7:9-16), provides all the content of the angelic description of Jesus in Luke 1:32-33.  Later, Jesus associates His kingship with a "new covenant" (Lk 22:20) and states that a kingdom has been assigned (literally, "covenanted") to Him by the Father (Lk 22:29).
  2. The Davidic monarch was the Son of God.  Jesus is the natural, not merely adopted, Son of God (Lk 1:35), and the title is used of Him throughout the New Testament
  3. The son of David was "the Christ." Christ" is indeed the preferred title of Jesus, from the first line of the New Testament onward.  Indeed, He is the "Lord's Christ" (Lk 2:26), a title applied only to kings in the Old Testament (see 1 Sam 16:6).
  4. The House of David was inextricably bound to Jerusalem.  The climactic scenes of Jesus' ministry occur in Jerusalem--His trial, passion, and death.  The Gospel makes it clear that the word of God should go forth "from Jerusalem" to the ends of the earth (Lk 24:47).
  5. The monarchy was also bound to the Temple.  Luke's Gospel begins in the Temple.  Jesus' childhood is set there.  Jesus cleanses the Temple and evicts the moneychangers.  For most of the Gospel he is traveling there (9:51-19:27), and the climax is reached when Jesus arrives in Jerusalem, where he cleanses--and teaches within--the Temple (Lk 19:45-21:38).
  6. The Davidic king is destined to rule all twelve tribes of Israel--but also all the nations.  The Gospels show--by many signs--that Jesus intends to restore the unity of the twelve tribes.  He appoints twelve Apostles, and He promises that they will judge "the twelve tribes of Israel" (Lk 22:30).  Key figures, such as the prophetess Anna, from the tribe of Asher, represent a faithful remnant from the "lost" northern tribes (Lk 2:36).  And Jesus gained a "multitude" (Lk 19:37) of followers from the former lands of united Israel by preaching in Galilee, Samaria, and Judea.  By His entryinto Jerusalem, he has formed a reunited kingdom.  Yet Jesus' kingship extends over all the nations.  Simeon announces that He will be a "light of revelation to the nations" (Lk 2:32).  Luke traces genealogy back to Adam rather than Abraham.  Jesus heals gentiles as well as Jews (e.g., Lk 7:1-10).  He predicts that "men will come from east and west, and from north and south" to sit at the table in the kingdom of God (Lk 13:29).  He commands that "forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem" (Lk 24:47).
  7. The kingdom of David was to be everlasting.  The angel Gabriel promises Mary that Jesus "will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end" (Lk1:33).
The three secondary characteristics find fulfillment in the Gospel as well.

  1. Mary appears as Queen Mother when she advises her royal son (Jn 2:3), when she pleads the cause of His subjects, when she receives foreign dignitaries with Him (Mt 2:11), and when she stands with His court of twelve royal ministers, the Apostles (Jn 19:25; Acts 2:14).
  2. Jesus appoints Peter as prime minster using the very terms used in the appointment of the "steward" who governs "the household of David" as vice-regent (see Mt 16:19; Is 22:15-25).  The king bestows authority symbolically with "the keys."
  3. Jesus renews the sacrifice of Thanksgiving, the todah, by His own offering of bread and wine, the eucharista, the Eucharist.  indeed, whenever we find Jesus breaking bread, we see Him "giving thanks" (e.g., Lk 24:30-35; Jn 6:11).
No one who believes the Gospels can deny that Jesus' contemporaries awaited a Messiah-king from the house of David.  No one who believes the Gospels can deny that Jesus presented Himself as the awaited Davidic king.

If Jesus is the Davidic king, his kingdom must be, in some sense, a Davidic Kingdom--the Davidic kingdom.  Jesus' "kingdom of God" did not supplant or replace the everlasting kingdom created by the covenant with David.  Jesus' kingdom was that kingdom, and is that kingdom, brought to fulfillment.

For only David's kingdom was called the "kingdom of Yahweh" (1 Chr 28:5).  The Old Testament authors understood that the reign of the house of David was based on a divine covenant in which the son of David was also declared to be the Son of God (2 Sam 7:14; Ps 2:7).  Therefore, the kingdom of David was the manifestation of God's rule over the earth--that is, God's everlasting kingdom for Israel and the nations.

But where is that kingdom today?  Indeed, where has it been all the years since Jesus' ascension?  For the Christian apologist, ancient or modern, there is perhaps no more important question.

The Loaves and Fishes, Jesus feeds us grace, Sacraments

Scott Pauline
The Orthodox, in schism, only refuse to listen to Peter, but they still listen to and have the ORAL word of God. But the heretics, not only do they not listen to Peter, but to ANY Apostolic Successor. They listen only to the written word and try to see what it means apart from the Church.

We, as the Catholic Church, draw from the same deposit of Tradition as the Orthodox. It is just that Peter has this tradition in full.

That is why I believe it was written in the stories of the loaves and fishes, that in one case, Jesus fed 5000 persons and in another 4,000.  Why?  Because the Apostles left **5** Sees, and **4** of them left the supreme See Peter, who is only **1**.  And yet, because Peter is the fullness of apostolicity in himself, his kingdom in the West is like 5000, so that the kingdom of Christendom in the East is like 4,000, the four Sees that left Peter, just like the 10 tribes of the North left the true king and his two tribes in the South, in the Old Testament Schism  (remember, the 12 apostles fulfill the 12 tribes of the OT).

But then, look at this:  to the 4,000, Christ fed **7** loaves and a few fish.  What might that mean?  Well, do not the Orthodox have all SEVEN sacraments, but fish a little, that is, are tossed to and fro a little in doctrine because they lack the fullness of doctrinal stability in Peter, who is the immovable rock?  For consider that the loaves were made of BARLEY, which can only be grown in the EARTH,  or GROUND, and didn't St. Paul tell Timothy that the CHURCH, is the pillar and GROUND of the truth, in so far as the Apostolic Successors, the Bishops, pass on that ORAL Word of God, the Sacred Tradition, which gives them the certain FOUNDATION of understanding the true MEANING of Scripture? And that only those men ordained by valid Apostolic Successors, like Orthodox and Catholic priests, can give the sacraments in general?

But in the West, Peter's kingdom of 5,000,  those that came out of the Church, the heretics, the Protestants, have not even loaves. They only have two fish, Baptism and Marriage. They have no earth from which the stability of loaves can be made of its barely. They have no Tradition or Bishops to tell them, LIKE PAUL, what the MEANING of Scripture is. So then, as in 3,000 primary denominations, they are all over the map, to and fro on doctrine. Their lot is only to fish, and they cannot eat the five loaves, Confession, Confirmation, Eucharist, Holy Orders, and Anointing that Peter and the other 4,000 have, that require the earth of Apostolic Succession to possess.

The loaves and the fish, these are the sacraments, which feed us grace, apart from which we would starve.

Why? Because even if a man works for "200 days", which is 200 thousand years of a thousand years of wages (a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day), or 20,000 times 10,000 men of work, or battle, as in apocalypse sixth trumpet (second half of Apocalypse 9), what will he gain but to kill a third of man supernaturally? For in the end, what is a thousand years of a thousand years of NATURAL laboring for righteousness but the laboring of a sinner, who in a natural condition can merit nothing (who then can be saved? With man, this is impossible, but with GOD, all things are possible)? For the wages of sin is death.

That is why I think St. Phillip said, at the time that they had only **5** loaves and **2** fish, "Lord, even with 200 days wages, we could never afford to feed even a little to everyone," which would seem to imply that we could work naturally of our own efforts and never gain any merit in God's eyes. No man can merit supernatural love or power from God, nor assistance. Only God can create it from nothing, like Jesus did with the loaves and fishes, and give it freely to man out of His love an compassion for man.

The wages of a natural sinner is death, just as the army of 20,000 times 10,000 of that apocalypse sixth trumpet only killed the third of man spiritually, taking away supernatural love of God and telling man that he can be good on his own power, like the Pelagian, whom we both agree was a heretic, like the soldiers of the so-called Enlightenment, who said, man needs no revelation from God [rationalist] nor any saving Intervention from God [the deists].

Indeed, the army of these merely naturally good heretics of the world (10 is a symbol of the world and heretics have 2 Sacraments, so that worldly heresies is like 2*10 and pure worldliness is like just 10, so that Enlightenment, which was first worldly heresies then pure worldliness, is like 2*10*10, or 200 ) of the so called Enlightenment was to destroy supernatural love and dependence on God in a great portion of what was Christendom. That is, they KILLED a great portion of man in a spiritual sense, a SUPERNATURAL sense.

Similarly, in a parable of the Christ, he says, are you going to build a tower and not have enough to complete it? Or go up against an army of 20,000 and you yourself have only 10,000? Better to call a truce. Earlier he says, you must be prepared to give up even natural relationships of immediate family for the sake of the supernatural.

All this seems to convey at least this much, which all Christians know: no man of his own power can ever please God on his own merits, nor can any man find happiness in mere natural goodness, or the things of this world. And hence, no mere natural relationships of literal mother and father and son and daughter can ever be enough to fill the human longing (if you love those who love you, what good is that? )

Similarly, the world thought it would find that ultimate thing at Babel, the tower. It was never finished because, firstly, it would never be enough anyway. Similarly, even if the powers that waged wars in empire after empire, decided to call a truce and try once again to build a unified world utopia, as in pagan Rome, or as now, the European world that no longer fights against one another in the world wars, but calls a truce and places its faith in secular messianism, a selfish and perverse cooperation as at Babel, it will never be enough.

Similarly, then, with all this natural goodness, or grandeur, it will neither be enough to satisfy the longing of the human heart, the hearts of the 5000 or the 4000, who needed grace of love from God to be happy, nor would they ever be able to please God from the natural resources of two hundred days wages, or, since, again, a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day, 200 thousand thousand times a thousand of natural wages.

Christ needed to draw food from nothing, the food of grace, even as sanctifying grace, as taught by Rome, is a finite, created participation in God's life and love within the Trinity, from nothing, and this alone can feed the heart with power to please God and to be fulfilled. That is why, I think, Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes, and their conglomerate respective numbers are SEVEN, like the Sacraments. For the Sacraments are the supreme source of grace.

And schismatics have all SEVEN of them, they just toss to and fro a little in doctrine without Peter, that is, they have a few fish.

But the heretics, they are only tossed to and fro, they have no stability of the GROUND of truth, which is the Church and tradition, that would help them understand what those Scriptures mean. For this reason, they can only fish, and the fish they have is but TWO, Baptism and Marriage. As for the five loaves, which are made from barely, alone which can be made from earth, or GROUND of truth, apostolic succession and tradition, they have them not, they have not the Sacraments that require the GROUND of stability, Successors of the Apostles, the five sacraments that comfort the soul with inner peace:  Confession, Confirmation, Eucharist, Holy Orders, and the Anointing!

It is Faith working through love--

By Charles Hatchko
(Gal. 5:6) It is Faith and Works (James 2:14-17)--(James 2:24)--(1 Cor. 13:2). We must Believe and Obey.(Rom. 16:25-26).-- Christ's redemption is a mystery of Divine love--totally expressed in the Almighty Father's supreme gifts. (John 3:16) give absolute definitive evidence of the Almighty Father's supreme gift in the giving of His only begotten Son. This initial mystery, the incomprehensible excess of the goodness and generosity of God who loved sinners and sent His Son into the world for redemption can be comprehended by faith. There is absolute redemption for all men in Jesus Christ. Christ completes his redemption by sending forth the Holy Siirit from the Father. (John 15:26)--(John 16:7)--(Acts 1:8). Through the promise of faith we may receive the promised Spirit--(Galatians 3:13).
Believe and Obey, Not Faith Alone is the crux of Biblical teaching.
One must have an obedience of faith, not faith alone. (Romans 16:25-26) gives definitive affirmation of an obedience of faith. Believe and Obey. Not just Believe.
Believe and Obey. (James 2:14-17) N.K.J.V. What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and of of you says to them, Depart in peace and be warmed and filled, but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself , if it does not have works is dead. Look at the word justified in any Biblical Expostionary Dictionary. The Greek Verb for the word justified-(Diikaioo) is used. Many Protestants write that the word justify means vindicated is bad Biblical exegesis.Look at any Protestant Expository Dictionary such as Vine's or Strong's for verification. Look at the correlation with The Parable of the Last Judgment--(Matt. 25:31-46) The separation of the sheep and goats is determined by the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by works of Charity. Charity accompanied with faith is not a prerequisite for salvation in Protestant teaching.
Faith Alone or Faith Only saves is the Reformation Protestant teaching.
Look closely at Verse Forty in the Parable of the Last Judgment.--
(Matt. 25:40)--N.K.J.V. And the King will answer and say to them, Assurdedly I say to you, insomuch as you did to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. Jesus Christ is talking about feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, -sheltering the homeless etc. Corporal l works of mercy in Catholic teaching. Look at three Parables-(Matt. 24:42-51) The illustration of the Two Sevants--(Matt. 25:1-13) The Parable of the Ten Virgins. Look at the Parable of the Talents (Matt. 25:14-30).These three are completed by the anouncement of a rigious last judgment. In these teachings Christ demands diligence, watchfullness,
faithfulness, and perseverance in the faith. These Parables of Christ are not judged on faith alone. Look at the Parable of the Marriage Feast. (Matt. 22:1-14) What does the man witout the wedding garment signify. St. Gregory the Great said the marriage is the wedding of Christ and His Church, and the garment is the virtue of charity; a person who comes to the marriage feat without a wedding garment is someone who believes in the Church but does not have charity. The white garments is the works done in faith symbolizing purity. The wedding garment is the works done in faithfulness to Christ. White symbolizes purity and the joy of victory .Look at (Revelation 3:4)--
(Rev. 7:9---(Rev. 7:13). Look at the words of the Apostle St. Paul--
(1 Cor. 13:2) N.I.V. If I have faith can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. This is not faith alone. Look at the Book of Phillipians who were a saved people, look at the language of St. Paul--(Phil. 2:12) N.I.V. Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence , but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Look again--Work out your salvation with Fear and Trembling. Does this sound like faith alone--.
Look at a few Biblical Tests that talks an obedience of faith. King James Version.
Let me list a few Old and Testament Biblical Texts that give definitve affimaton that we must believe and obey. The Bible does not teach Sola Fides-- Faith Alone saves.
Old Testament--(Genesis 17:9)--(Exodus 23:22)--(Leviticus 19:19)--(Levitus 19:35-37)--
(Leviticus 20:8)--(Leviticus 20:22)--(Leviticus 22:31)--(Numbers 15:38-40)- Remember the Lord's commandments and do them. Please read (Deuteronomy 4:1-40) King James-
(Deut. 5:1-33)--(Deut. 6:1-25)--(Deut. 8:1-6)--(Deut. 8:11-20)--(Deut. 11:1-3) --
(Deut.11: 13-27)--Look at (Deut. 13:4) K.J.V. Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. This surely is not faith alone.Look closely at the following Biblical Texts-- (Deut. 26:16-18)---(Deut. 27:1-10)-- Look at (Joshua 22:5) But take diligent heed to do the commandments and the law, which Moses servant of the Lord charged you, to love the Lord your Go, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul.
(Joshua 23:6)--(Joshua 24:140--(1 Samuel 12:14)--(1 Samuel 12:20)---
(1 Samuel 12:24)-(1 Samuel 15:22)--(2 Kings 17:37-38)--(1 Chronicles 16:15)--
(1 Chonicles 28:9-10)--(Psalm 76:11)--(Proverbs 7:1)--(Eccxleiastes 12:13)--
(Jeremiah 26:13)---(Daniel 7:27)--(Malachi 4:4). Look at a few of the New Testament Biblical Texts. (Matt. 7:21-23) --(Matt. 19:16-17)-- (Luke 11:28)--John 14:15-23)--
(Romans 2:5-9)--(2 Cor. 9:8-10)--(Galatians 5: 5-6)--(Eph. 2:10)--(Eph. 6:6-8)--
(Col. 1:10)---(Col. 3:24-25)--(James 1:22)--(James 2:24)--( 1 Peter 1:17)--
(Rev. 20:12-13). Protestants need an abandonment to Divine Providence and Truth.
Let us remember how to discover what is the will of God. (1 Thess. 4:3) gives definitive evidence that God's will is our sanctification. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the divine action places before us at every moment things of infinite value, and gives them to us according to the measure of faith and love. (2 Cor. 3:5) gives definitive affirmation our sufficiency is from God. The perfection of souls, and the degree of excellence in which they have attained can be gauged by their fidelity to the order established by God. We are called to be made perfect, not only to believe.
(Matt. 5:48)--Christ calls one to perfection. (Hebrew 12:14) N.I.V. states, Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. (1 Peter 1:13-16) Calls us to holiness. Holiness--Greek-(hagiasmos) is what we are called to. Self guidance is a mistake--self guidance comes from self-intepretation of the Bible. Remeber hope is an essential element in love. Love has faith in the goodness of the beloved. What is the foundation, the pillar and ground of truth.
(1 Tim. 3:15) K.J.V The Church is the Pillar and Ground of Truth.Believe and Obey, Not Faith Alone is the crux of Biblical teaching.

Hold Fast Your Confession

By Sankarathil Sunny

Hold Fast Your Confession

Your confession is what you say. The Bible tells you to hang on
tight to saying God's Word.

HEBREWS 10:23 NKJ
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without
wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

God has no reason to tell us to hold fast, or hang on tight, to
our confession, unless someone, or something, will be trying to
get us to turn loose of it — and say something else.

HEBREWS 3:1 NKJ
1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ
Jesus,

HEBREWS 4:14 NKJ
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed
through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our
confession.

Jesus is the High Priest of our confession — what we say. He
represents us before God with the words we speak.

The Bible says:

You are righteous in Christ. Romans 3:22

you are forgiven. Colossians 2:13

You are healed. 1 Peter 2:24

You are delivered from the devil. Colossians 1:13

You can do all things through Christ. Philippians 4:13

You are strong in the Lord. Ephesians 6:10

The Greater One is in you. 1 John 4:4

The Lord is guiding you. John 16:13

God is working in you. Philippians 2:13

The Lord is your helper. Hebrews 13:6

Jesus became poor to make you rich. 2 Corinthians 8:9

You may wonder why you should say what God says in the Bible
about you. First, God is looking for faith, and second, it is
the Word planted in your life that will make you free. Speaking
God's Word is a way of planting it in you.

Yes, it can take faith to say what the Bible says about you.
Especially when you don't feel like it and the circumstances
don't agree, either. But we have to choose: will we rely on our
feelings, or God's Word? Do we trust the circumstances more
than God's Word?

But you may say, "What the Word says is just not true in my
life." You are the establishing witness. God has said something
about you. Now when you come into agreement with Him, it will
become manifest in your life.

MARK 11:23 NKJ
23 "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain,
`Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in
his heart, but believes that those things he says will come to
pass, he will have whatever he says.

Jesus told us that we will have whatever we say — if we believe
it. It will come to pass. So you see why the devil tries to get
us to quit saying God's Word, which will set us free.

I will say what God says about me — regardless of my
feelings or circumstances.
